It's been an exciting year already! Two big pieces of news...
I spent Christmas break and most of January working on a commission for Royal Caribbean. Their art consultant ordered 6 giant jellyfish for the ship Voyager of the Seas. The right photo is with one of my regular sized jellyfish! They will be hanging on both sides of the bar in the adults only solarium. I love the idea of them floating hundreds of feet above the sea, touring the Caribbean!
Secondly I did an interview for Voyage LA magazine. They interviewed me for their "Though Provokers" section. Here is a quote on what success means...
"Success as an artist is simply being proud of the work you put out and always moving forward with endless curiosity."
Looking for some opulent art to install on that oh so plain wall? I've got 3 sets of white jellyfish ready to ship, two sets have this rainbow aura finish on the tops that is extremely hard to photograph! The rainbows glimmer in the light at different times of the day, really catching the eye.
Since these take an extra firing, I will only have these two sets for awhile, so if you want to freshen up your home or office this summer with these babies, cast your net now.
These are the one thing I can't seem to keep stocked in my shop. The thing I thought was the weirdest, is the most popular. Go figure!
The super sandy clay I've been using for these is nice and strong, and has great texture. Depending on where it is in the kiln, it goes from light yellow to dark brown, sometimes all in one vase, it's like a piece of toast.
I love the drippy glaze combo, on the right one, it makes interesting glass drops. It went on a little too thick this time and dripped all the way to the bottom, but I really like the randomness.
The alchemy of minerals, sand, and textures is great fun, and I'm off to make some taller ones.
These three as well as some new blue dandelion rattles were listed in my shop this weekend, check them out HERE.
